Fraser is seen as the "old pro" of general contracting at the top of the residential market. For more than a generation, it has been tapped by designers and architects for every style of residential work, from Krueck & Sexton's sleek angles an glass to the aged refinement of historic dwellings, and in buildings ranging from stratospheric high rises to quaint or stately townhouses. The average Fraser job exceeds the million-dollar mark. Its workmanship is not the only thing that puts Fraser on top of the referral list among Chicago's design cognizanti. Gale Fraser's own low-key demeanor, patience, and calming effect on designers and clients alike combine with his keen eye for reading plans and demand for quality, we're told, to play a large part in the firm's excellent enduring reputation. Described as "a gentleman of the old school," he succeeds his father in giving clients hands-on--and often hand-holding--attention. The firm's in-house carpenters are said to be top-notch. Pricing is commensurate with the firm's quality, experience and attention, but worth it, we're told, for the best that money can buy."

In 1992, my wife and I bought a large apartment. You were the general contractor on its extensive renovation. Ten or eleven years later, both my wife and I are still extremely pleased with the quality of your work. It was a complicated job which involved a great many subcontractors; all which you chose, supervised and made sure they delivered as promised. Over the past forty years I have dealt with many construction companies in the Chicago area and I unhesitantly say, Fraser Construction is the very “best of the best.”

Your prices are fair, not the cheapest, but fair for the high quality of work which you and your subcontractors produce. Even more, you don’t walk away from the job when it’s over. For the past twelve years when problems in the apartment crop up, and they always do, you have never hesitated to come and repair what’s needed to be repaired on a timely basis no matter how small and picky the job is. Maybe it’s because you are a family company, but you do not forget your clients when the job is done and believe me that’s the greatest value a client can ask, especially as time moves on.

I would unhesitantly recommend you to any potential client. Again, I believe your prices are extremely fair. The work that is accomplished is of the highest quality, and you and your firm approach every job with the highest personal integrity. Both my wife and I say this after ten years of our job being completed.

Sincerely,
James Donnelley
